How a Blog Works

Every blog is made up of 3 items:

• A Blog
• A Blog Template
• Blog Entries

In addition to these 3 items a blog may also have blog comments and blog variables.

You, as the admin, are able to create blogs, templates, and entries for your members to use.  You can also allow them to create their own blogs, templates and entries.

Blogs

A blog is a collection of blog entries that all share the same template (meaning they have the same layout/design).  When viewing the page for the blog visitors will see all of the blog entries belonging to that blog sorted by date with the newest blog entry at top.

Adding/Editing a Blog

From the blogs page (your-domain.com/admin/blogs) there is the option to add a new blog.  When adding a blog you provide a title for the blog, a template that is used for the blogs layout/design, and a contact group that any visitors leaving comments are added to.  When editing a blog you have the additional option of specifying if there is an option for visitors to leave comments on the blog (by default this is turned on).

Blog Templates

Every blog is assigned to a blog template.  The blog template defines the layout and style used by the blog.  The blog tool comes installed with 8 blog templates available for everyone to use.  Both the admin and members can add additional blog templates.  Any blog templates added by the admin are available for members to use.  Blog templates created by members are only available for their own personal use.  Adding a new blog template requires a good understanding of html.

Blog Entries

Blog entries are the different articles that are added to a blog.  Blog entries can be browsable, searchable and/or grouped by month/year.  The layout/design used by a blog entry is determined by the blog template that the blog is assigned to.  Each blog template has a unique "SEO Friendly" directory name assigned to it that can be edited and customized.

Blog Comments

On the blog level you can select whether or not the entries belonging to the blog allow visitors to leave blog comments.  If comments are turned on then new comments left by visitors need to be approved by the owner of the blog before they become public.  When a visitor leaves a comment they must provide their email and name and then they are added as a contact and assigned to the contact group that the blog belongs to.

Comments Approval:
Comments can't be visible as long as you didn't approve them. click the green tick symbol in order to approve comment, or click on X symbol if you found comment is inappropriate.
